His grand sire, Lord Salisbury (1205), imported, winner of first prize at Ayr, 1876, as a two-year-old, first prize at Kilmarnock, 1877, and champion med»l for best horse in the yard. In the same year he won first prize at Dairy, first at Ayr, first at Glasgow, and first at the Highland Society’s Show at "Edinburgh. _ . After coming to New Zealand, Lord Salisbury won a large number of prizes. He was first at Dunedin in 1881, first and champion at Taieri in 1883, first and champion at Dunedin and Taeiri in 1884, and first and champion at Dunedin in 1885 and 1886. . , m , Lord Lion's dam.
