PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.
Per Press Association. Wellington, November 12. The Presbyterian Assembly to : day resolved that while thankful for the Anti-(Gambling Bill, introduced by the Government, and trusting it may become law this session, the Assembly trusts it will bo_ amended so as to prevent the of totalisator odds, in accordance with tho Premier’s own definitely _ expressed intention, also the elimination of the clause giving racing clubs power to license bookmakers. The Assembly further expressed its ineradicable conviction that in the interests of the moral and social well being of tho community, the totalisator should be absolutely abolished. A copy of the resolution is to be sent to the Premier.
November 12. The report on Church forms referred to the “present state of chaos into which our Church services have sunk,” and urged that a new hook should he written, with special reference to the Church's ’ laws and practice. Consideration of this mat; tor was referred to the Presbyteries to make overtures to the next Assembly if they think it desirable. After much discussion, the Assembly adopted a recommendation made last week by the Youth of the Ohiirch Committee that there should bo two young people’s agents, and that the committee ho authorised to appoint such agents as soon as their support is reasonably assured,
