ARBITRATION COURT.

Press Association. Wellington, November (>. At the Arbitration Court to-day Mr Ferguson, secretary of the Harbour Board, asked the Court to rule whether the Board might.observe the King’s Birthday on Monday iu lieu of Saturday. Mr D. McLaren of the (Wharf Labourer’s Union, and Mr W. T. Young, of the Seaman’s Union, said the men intended to abide by the award and observe the. holiday on Saturday. Mr Justice Sim suggested that the unions should agree ro treat Monday as the holiday. If the unions could not see their way to fall in with this suggestion, and subsequently came before the Court cited for a breach of the award ou account of the workers not being paid holiday rates for Saturday’s work, the Court might consider such application under section 8G of the Act, which allowed for cases regarded as trivial to bo dismissed with costs against the parties bringing the action.
