Press Association - Copyright. Received 7th, B.tifi a.m. Paris, November G.
The Petit Parisien by means of a referendum of its readers relative to the suspension of capital punishment, elicited 1,-112,000 protests against theJPrcsideut’s too frequent exercise of the prerogative of pardou and only 328,000 supported his action.
(Capital punishment has practically ceased to exist in Franco owing to the fact that the President always commutes capital sentences. Crimes of violence have consequently become very common, and much indignation was caused recently by the reprove of a man named Sollielaud who murdered a littlo girl under particularly revolting circumstances. )
