The inquest on Alice Coloby. who was'killed'on ipe road a short distance from Orepuki, was held on Tuesday and elicited the fact that the young lady was driving in a milk cart:with a. woman when fhe horse took fright at a traction engine and the cart capsized at the side of the road, and tlio deceased who, was ninned to the ground for some time died of the “ injuries. Tlio jury found the following verdict: That Alice Oolbey ‘ met her death by a liorp.o backing a dray down a bank and that death was induced by Hm neglect and omission of Alexander Terrier, the person in charge of tlio traction engine, and that the deceased by turning the horse iu the wrong direction contributed to the fatal 'result, nut the negligence of Alexander Terrier’"Was the primary cause of the death of deceased. ‘ The following rider was added ; The ji ry is of the opinion that the by-law regulating the conduct of traction onigues around dangerous places should bo made more stringent as regards'scouting ahead and that the Wallace County Council should materially widen the road where the accident ha ppeued. Waipawa. November 6. Gilbert Broad', aged 21, shot himself iu the right temple at Fairfield on Tuesday night and was removed to the hospital in a critical condition.
