Repatriation of Convicts. Press Association. —Copyright. Received 5, 10.11 a, m. y . Sydney, November 5. Nows from New Caledonia states that female convicts sent out for petty crimes are to he returned to France in small batches. It is surmised that this repatriation may bo the beginning of a general scheme. It is reported that male convicts under”tlie ago of CO who have not less than 8 years’ sentence to under go will bo sent to French. New Guinea. At present there are about 1000 male convicts with about an equal number of recidiVistes or iucorrigibles. From January next the local troops will be reduced to one company of marine infantry and thirteen men of the marine artillery. The strength of the troops will be made up by local recruits.
