Per Press Association. Wellington, November 1. In the Council, which met at |3.30 p.m., the Endowment Bill from the House of Representatives was read a first time. The Town District Act Amendment Bill was read a second time. The debate ou the second reading of the Laud Bill was resumed, and the Council adjourned at 5 p.m. The Council resumed at 7.30. The debate on the second reading of the Laud Bill was continued till 9.30 p.m , when tho Council rose. In the House of Representatives the Taumarunui Town Council Election and Valuation Bill, tho Fire Brigades Bill, Marine Insurance Bill, Bill of Exchange Act Amendment Bill, and the Agricultural Implement Manufacture, Importation, aud Sale Bill were read a second time. The House adjourned at 5.30 p.m. The House resumed at 7.30. The Police Officers Bill, Supreme Court Practice aud-Procedure Acts Amendment Bill, which originated in the Council, were read a second time. The Flour and Other Monopolies Prevention Bill, introduced by Governor’s message was read a first time. The Post Office Savings Bank Funds Investment Bill, Hutt Railway and Road Improvefment Bill, Local Bodies Loans Act Amendment Bill, Govrenmeut Advances to Settlers Bill passed through Committee unamended, and were then reported.
