MANGAWEKA.
From Our Gwu Correspondent. Perhaps one of the most popular weddings In the history of Mangaweka was solemnised in St. Martin’s Church yesterday by the Rev. Blackburn, the occasion being the marriage of Miss Ruby Bowie, daughter of Mr E. J. Bowie, with Mr Bod Dickson, of the Kawhatau district. Long before the hour of the ceremony friends and relatives arrived iu carriages and other vehicles whilst the townspeople turned out cnmasse. It was no doubt a brilliant assemblage. The bridesmaids, Miss O. Bowie, and Miss M. Hammond wore beautiful and costly drosses, and wore much admired. Mr Don Dicksou acted as best man, and Messrs O. Bowie and W. Julian, groomsmen. The bridegroom’s gifts to tho bridesmaids" on the memorial occasion were dainty aud quaint gold chains aud pendants. The wedding presents made a maguifioiont display and were much admired, they ~ numbered over 100 and wero useful and costly; this above went to show tho popularity and esteem in which the young couple are held in tho district. At the bieakfast, which was partaken of iu the Oddfellows’ hall, 50 guests sat down, and the usual toasts wero honoured. Shortly after four o’clock the company dispersed until later in the evening when a very sociable and thoroughly enjoyable dance was kept going until after midnight. The honeymoon trip is to be spent iu different parts of itbe Island, aud the well wishes of the large assemblage goes with them and hope they will have long life, wealth and prosperity. The future home lot Mr and Mrs Dicksou will be iu the Kawhatau.
