A ten per cent dividend would be declared and £9!>,883 carried forward. It was said that the abolition of the duty in Now Zealand excepting that it might possibly create a larger demand would not alter the position as sugar refining had never been protected in New Zealand. The present crop was heavy but the drought both in Australia and Fiji was likely to have a bad olfcct on next year’s output.
