The Mastortou police are at present engaged in endeavouring to trace the whereabouts of a young man named Ernest Byall, who lias been missing from Mastortou since Saturday last. Byall is 25 years of ago, and recently arrived in New Zealand. Ho has a brother in Nelson, to whom, it is stated, ho forwarded his bank pass book shortly before his disappearance, together with a letter in which it is allleged lie spoke of his intention to take a dose of chlorodiue. His brother is now in Mastertou, assisting in making enquiries.
