The tracks to Mount Holdsworth are expected to be iu a favourable state for climbing by the King’s Birthday, as the snow is fast disappearing. A large party will ascend on that day should the w'cathor conditions prove auspicious. Guido Bannister is about to mako a plasticine model of the Tararuas in the vicinity of Mouut Holdsworth, showing the spurs, valleys and rivers and other features, which will bo indicated by flags, and the route to Mount Holdsworth carefully doll non ted. Camps will bo shown iu the model, which will enable tourists to pick up their bearings among the intricate network of bills svliicii comprise the ranges adjacent to Mastorton. A movement is on foot to form one or more Alpine Clubs to encourage and and facilitate mountaineering.
