Messrs Joseph Nathan and Co.'s London House reports:— , , Wool.—The hardening tendency of wool values has been well maintained during the past three weeks. Not only are merinos the turn dearer, but the coarser grades of : crossbreds have also appreciated to a slight ! extent. In these circumstances prospects I for the September series, which commences on the 24th inst., appear favourable, and it ! is generally anticipated that there will be i a firm market for all classes of staple with I probably some improvement in values of ' combing merinos and inferior descriptions I of crossbreds: The gross arrivals to date I for the fifth series of sales are as follows : | Australia, 45,242 bales; New Zealand, 1 29 127 bales; South Africa, 18,528 bales. ' Total, 92,897 bales, of which about 37,000 i bales (20,000 Australian, 1500 New Zealand and 15,500 bales South African) have beca forwarded direct to the Continent, Yorkshire, etc. •
