FIRES.
Per Press Association. Christchurch, O ctober 27. a ten-roomed house in Roileston street, Linwood, owned and occupied by Mr J. O. Cameron, foreman of the City Council staff, was partially destroyed by fire early yesterday evening. The fire originated in a work-shop, and before water could be procured it had gutted the rear portion of the honse. Napier, October 2S. A fire broke out on Saturday afternoon in a six-roomed house on Shakespeare Terrace, owned by A. Pearson and occupied by Henry Hansen, and considerable damage was done before the outbreak was suppressed. The building was insured for £3OO in the Royal Exchange and the furniture (tho greater part of which was saved) for £IOO in the South British. Sir Hansen states that a fortnight ago some cue placed a lighted candle against the hack door and as no ouo was in tho house on Saturday afternoon a suspicion of incendiarism is cntrrlaiued.
