Although the majority of members showed tho effects of the vogaye, several managed, in view of the weak bowling,of the Side, to make fair scores. Fane was the chief _of these, and after playing himself in, gave an aggressive display, which resulted in 133 being placed opposite his name. His innings, however, was not without blemish, he being given a ilfe at 24, thou again after recording his century. Braund played up to form, while both Hard - 'Staff aiul Crawford gave a lively opposition. When stumps were drawn, England lost seven wickets for 350, of which Fane contributed 133, Braund 59, Hardstaff 40, Jones (captain) 45, and Crawford 43.
