" Following is the High Commissioner's cablegram, dated iLondon, October 19th : The mutton market is weak, although there is better demand, induced by lower prices. Canterbury 3%d, North Island 'd}.U\. There is a good demand for all lamb, with no change in prices. Tiie beef market is dull, there being large supplies of American .chilled beef. Hindquarters 3%d, forequarters 2%d. The butter market is strong, and all stocks are advancing. Thero is a large demand for better grades. It is reported that the first shipment of New Zealand new season's make has been sold to arrive at 130 s. Danish butter on spot is 1245, Siberian IOSs, Australian 117 s. There is a good demand for cheese. Prices are unchanged sinco last week. . The hemp market is weaker and prices slightly lower, besides being in rather an unsettled condition. Good fair grade on spot £3O, fair grade £2B 10s. Fair current Manila £3O. The latter is in largo supply. October-December shipments good fair £29 10s, fair £2B, fair current Manila £29 10s. Tho cocksfoot seed market is quiet, offerings being very small. The quotatknrstauds at 73s pergewt., and is firm thereat. The wheat market is firm, owing to reduced supplies. New Zealand long-berried on spot is 41s ad, nominal, short-berried 40s Gd per quarter of 40Glbs. There is an activo demand for oats, New Zealand sparrowbills being quoted ex granary on spot per quarter of 3S4lbs at 27s Gd, and Danish per 3201bs at 22s Gd nominal. Now Zealand beans, f.a.q., new crop, 31s Gd per 5041b5. Tho market is quiet but firm. Tho demand for Partridge peas is weak and inactive, and they are quoted at 43s Gd per 5041bs.ex granary.
