CHELTENHAM.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

One of the most successful concerts that has ever been hold here took place in the public hall on Friday night, the building being crowded. Mr i\ Pirani presided and explained that the object of the concert was to provide prizes for tho local school. Tlio singers wore nearly all from tho Cheltenham district, a few. however, coming from a distance. There was au unusual array of instrumental performers, whoso efforts were thoroughly enjoyed. Among them wo note tho Misses Burrell, who played a duet on tho piano, besides accompanying most of the songs, Mrs Mrs Murray, Mr somerville nn the English concertina (he was recalled throb times for one piece), Messrs Redstone and Gibson on the violin and Mr Perechon on the piano. Step dances "were given by Messrs Pat Desmond Hughson. The school children sang several oi the school songs very nicely, and would probably have done better had there been better standing room on the stage. There wero also two glees nicely sung by tho local Glee Club. Among those who sang were Miss Hare, who received an encore, Messrs Greer, Evans, and the Rev. Mr Mayo. The recitations of Mr Pirani and Master Patterson were well received.
