Betting: 5 to 2 against Poseidon, 3 to 1 Apologue. lolaire, Welcome Trist, Ebullition and Poseidon were in the leading division as the field passed the railway, and on entering the straight Welcome Trist took charge, followed by lolaire, Poseidon, Apologue and True Scot.
