KEIR HARDIE.

Per Press Association. Auckland, October 10. At a meeting of the Independent Political Labour League to-night it was resolved to extend a hearty invitation to Mr Keir Hardie to visit Auckland during his tour of Now Zealand. Strong exception was taken by some of the speakers to the stringent criticisms that had been passed on Mr Hardie in connection witli iris Indian speeches. Wellington, October 10.

The Mayor was asked, at the City Council meeting to-night, if he intended to give Mr Keir Hardie a public reception. His Worship replied in the affirmative, and stated lie did not personally accept as absolutely accurate the cabled reports of Keir* Hardie’s utterances in India. The Mayor Is attitude was supported by the Council.
