SOCIALISM AND THE EMPIRE.

Mr Ramsay MacDonald, -speaking at Stepney, said that socialism accepted the facts of life, and one of these facts was that we were responsible for the Empire, and whether wo liked it or not we must rule the Empire. Socialism must devise a colonial policy, tending to the world’s peace. Canada, he continued, would not tolerate Japanese immigration,' and tho Trade Unions Would compel Sir W. Lanrier to seek a modification of the Canadian Japanese treaty. _ Ml 1 MacDonald concluded m deprecating terms by averring his belief that Australians were preparing a navy in order to fight Japan.
