Seventeen started. Betting: 12 to 1 against Mimer. Won by two lengths. Time, Imin 14 3-Bsec. _ New Stakes— Mountain King 1, Sivon 2, Count Witte 3. Also ran: Seddon, Black Mark, Blue Book, Welcome Tnst,Vaponize. Betting: 2tol on Mountain King. Count Witte led to the straight when the favorite came away and won easily. Time, Imin 54Asoc. Metropolitan Handicap, 'l4 miles— Mooltan 1, Apologue 2, Melodrama 3. All the acceptors but lolaire, Delaware, Barrecjoey, Legation, and Trogeare started. Betting: 5 to 4 against Mooltan, 4 to 1 v. Apologue, 25 to 1 v. Maranui. After the field had settled down, Mary of Argyle rushed to the front and had as her closest attendants Collarit, Uddah, Apologue, Florence, Melodrama and Mooltan. There was little change in relative positions until approaching tho straight whoa Collarit ran up to the leader, Mary of Argyle, who led into the straight. When all heads were turned for homo the favourite, Mooltan, with Apologue forged to tho front and fought out a desperate finish, the former winning by a short head. Maranui finished sixth. Time, 2min 34fcecs. Fikst Steeplechase, of 300 sovs; about 2i miles.

Nino started. Betting: 2 to 1 v. Phaetontis, G to 1 v. Haydn and Eclair. Tho three Now Zealand horses had tho race practically to themselves, clearing right away from tho other sis starters. On the final run down tho bill for homo Eclair held a commanding • lead and it looked as if tho topwoight would never get on tonus. After negotiating the lastobstacle, however, Phsctonitis came with a wet sail, overhauling Eclair, and eventually winning comfortably by four lengths. Haydn finished third, six lengths behind Eclair. Time, smin 33sec. The race was conceded to ho tho finest ever soon at Bandwick. All the New Zealand horses jumped splendidly. Breeders’ Plate, 5 furlongs—Bawbee 1. Armlet 2, Borodino 3. Fourteen started. Betting: 2 to 1 v. Borodino, 4 to 1 Armlet, 6to 1 Bawbee. Armlet got well away, but soon gave place to Maltose. At tho three-furlong post Armlet again took up tho running, with Ali and Borodino next, Mr Stead's filly entered the straight two lengths to tho good. Borodino challenged" her and tho pair were struggling for supremacy, when Bawbee came with a rattle and won by bait a length from Armlet, with Borodino a head away. Time, Imin 3soc.
