A SOCIETY CHIMPANZEE.
Fashionable society at Newport aurl Narragansett Pier have been entertaining as a week-end visitor the intelligent chimpanzee, Consul 1., says the New York correspondent of the Tribune. Tho exhibitor of the animal, Mr Frank Bostock first sont the chimpanzee to Newport, where a sumptuous breakfast, luncheon, and reception was given in his honour at Mr Oliver Belmont's villa. Society largely attended these functions, and declared that the chimpanzee's table manners were quite "proper. " A series of entertainments followed at Narragansett Pier, where the chimpanzee went motoring, drank champagne, smoked cigarettes, and attended a danco at swell casino. The animal apparently enjoyed the entertainment quite as much as the "smart set."
