NEW ZEALAND ATHLETIC UNION.

A meeting of the Feilding centre of the New Zealand Athletic Union was held at Feilding on Wednesday afternoon. Present —Messrs Ongley (Feilding Club), I. J. Fake (Palmerston St. Patrick's Sports Club), J. Collingwood (Awahuri Sports Club), W. R. Walker (secretary), E. 11. Fisher (president), McDonald and D. Munro (West Coast and Palmerston Caledonian Society).

In the report of the past season it was stated that the initial efforts of the centre had been successful. Eighteen clubs had affiliated and ■three permits were granted. The number of competitors registered was 161. Although the district was a large one, it had generally been arranged for a representath e of the centre to be pi rs-nt at each sports meeting. The Union s share ot this was £:tt 17s Gel, which had been remitted, and the remaining £ll :')s was in the Bank to the credit of the Union. It was claimed that the Union had largely succeeded in repressing abuses in athletic sports. The opinion was expressed that too largo a proportion of the receipts had to be sent to head quarters. Praise was "iven to the secretary for the tact and ability he had shown in carrying out his duties. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The meeting, in re-electing Mr Walker secretary, granted him £lO 10s payment for last year. Mr Fisher was re-elected presidont, and Messrs Ongley and Munro vicepresidents. Executive committee;
