London Wool Sales.

Prees Association —Copyright. London, September 25. At the wool sales 8004 bales were offered, including 7282 Now Zealand crossbreds, chiefly slips, which remained unaltered. A few mermoes were fully 5 per cent dsarer than at the closing sales of last series. There was a good general'conipetition. Septomber 20. At the wool^ales'the averageSpriccs realised for flock portions ot the following clips were :—Paritu Ritata 10>.<d. Crossbreds were fully equal to July rates, and merinoes 7>rf' per cent higher. The sale fixtures for next year are January 21st, March 17th (unlimited), May 12th, July 14tn, Septomber 20th, and November 24th. Limits will be fixed later if necessary.

Messrs Murray Roberts and Co. have received the following wool market cablegram from their London House, dated 24th September :—The sales have opeuod with a largo attendance of buyers and competition is good. The selection of merino is poor and not sufficient to test the market. The market is firm for crossbreds and shows no material change. ,„.,,. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., have received the following cable from London under date, Sept. 24th:—The sales have opened with strong competition and large attendance of buyers. English and Continental houses are competing strongly and the prospects for all wools next series are favourable. Prices are to Md per lb higher for all good lines of crossbred wools and lambs wool. Merinos are %& to Id per lb higher but market is irregulai for wasty crossbreds, scoured and sliped wools.

Melbourne, September 27. Consideration of the tariff will be commenced to-day. Mr Bent says the action of the British authorities in practically suspnding the Newfoundland Constitution is not a matter, in which the States could interfere, but if any protest is made it should come from the Commonwealth.
