A COSTLY OFFICE.

Press Association - Copyright,

Melbourne, September 25

Sir W. Lyue made a statement regarding the establishment of a High Commissioner’s office in London. He said it was proposed to erect suitable offices at a cost of £60,000 on a leasehold site under offer belonging to the Loudon County Council in the Strand.

The Opposition are sceptical about a six-storey building with 200 feet frontage being erected at the price, and it is believed that it will cost more like a quarter of a million. Mr Watson thought the Commissioner should be appointed before they dealt with the building. The initial vote for the purpose of acquiring the site was passed.
