MANAWATU A. AND P. AS SOCIATION.
Tho usual monthly meeting of tho above was held in the A. and P. rooms yesterday morning. The attendance was good. The President (Mr W. F. Jacob) occupied the chair. CORRESPONDENCE.
The New Zealand Sheep Breeders’ Association wrote offering a champion silver shield for competition at the forthcoming show, valued at £3 3s, for the champion Southdown ram in the wool. The Feilding A: and P. Association wrote agreeing to the nomination of tho President, Mr Jacob, as a inember of the Executive of the A. and P. Peimanenfe Committee. —Received -
From the Egmont A. and P. Association, pointing out with regard to the' decision of the Department of Agriculture not to permit the officers of tho Dairy Division to judge at shows that this would be prejudicial to tho dairying industry, and asking for assistance in having the decision altered. From the Otago A. and P, Association, suggesting representation of Now Zealand at future Royal Agricultural Shows in pastoral, agricultural and mineral resources.—Decided to hentily endorse and eo-operate. From F. Pllis, Huntervillo, with regard to tho draught horse classes, 57 and 53 conflicting.—Regret rxpressod that it Was too late to alter schedule. ' .
From W, H. Hannay, Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company, enclosing £lO 10s, contribution to prize fund. From the Department of Agriculture, stating the bee demonstration would be given on People’s Day of tho show, GENERAL. In connection with tho refusal of tho Government to allow tho dairy instructors to judge at shows during the height of the butter season, tho Chairman said that Manawatu was hardly affected as it had no produce at tho Spring Show. He thought tbe Department had good reason for its decision.
It was decided on tho motion of Mr J. M. Johnson, that the matter be referred to tho Winter Show Committee for a report. A letter was received from Mr J. G. Duncan, ot Wellington, stating that tbe subscriptions in Wellington totalled £O3 0s and it was hoped to increase this amount to £IOO.
A vote of thanks was accorded thosfj who had subscribed and also to Mr Duncan and the President for what tie}* had done iu the matter. It was decided to inferm Mr T. Hunt, Wakefield, Nelson, that he would not Bo debarred from exhibiting iri the Show-on account of the fact that he was judging in one class.
Mr F. H. Cooper was accorded a vote of thanks for his donation to tho special prize fund. Replying to Mr H. Gillies, tho Secretary said he had written to other A. and P. Associations notifying them of tho disqualification of D. Bennett. It was decided that the next meeting take place on tiie second Tuesday in October.
