Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, September 17. Solution has been scratched for the Epsom and Metropolitan Handicaps, and Boniform, who is stated to have gone amiss, fer all engagements.

Rangitikei Spring Meeting. By “Turf.” On Wednesday tho opening day of the Rangitikei Racing Club’s Spring Meeting will take place, and will bo concluded on Thursday, If the weather .keeps flue till the day of the races there is of the course being in fair* order, although it is hardly likely that any records will he broken. Penalties have been incurred as follows; Flying Handicap: St. Claimer, Uilbs, 9.5 ; Mahnta, Tibs, 9.3. Raugitoto Hack: Hiro, 7lbs, 8.7; Lady Disdain, Tibs, 7.5. So far Toa Tnhi in the Flying and Oatsoyo in tho Welter are the only withdrawals. Coaches will leave Mar ton at 10.30 a.m. on each morning of the races, returning after the last race. The totalisator will he under the supervision of Messrs Hoyton and and tho luncheon room will he iu the capable hands of Mr J. M. Nicol. The Marten Baud will also he present to Ouliveu tho proceedings. Anticipations : FLYING HANDICAP, 0 furlongs. The final issue should lay between St. Claimer and Mahnta, and if a surprise is effected it may come from Liukloss. WILLOW BANK STEEPLECHASE, about 2}£ miles. Tho above should prove an exciting contest between Oryx, Pilot, Morpeth and Rouda, and tho order ot finish may bo Rouda I Oryx 2 Morpeth 6 PUKEHOU HACK HURDLE

N RACE, 114 miles. Ton have paid up for tho Hurdles and Kaipotipeti, with 11.11, is not harshly treated. Waitoa ran prominently at Martou but tho heavy going evidently affected Hurimoaua and Lorida. Mauri is a new one at the game. As tho field is not such a formidable one lam inclined to tho chances of Kaipetipoti 1 Hurimoaua 3 Mauri 3 MAIDEN HACK FLAT RACE, 5 furlongs. Twenty-four have entered for the maiden sprint and tho winner may come from tho following half-dozen; Nordoff, King Koran, Commander, Fulraiuator and Muskorado with a proforouce'for King Post 1 Fulmiuator S Nordoff 3 RANGITIKEI STEEPLECHASE, 3% miles. In addition to the 130 sovs. to the winner Mr D . Congliliu will present tho winner with a handsome silver cup. With a field of eight speculation should bo brisk, as tho contestants are a very even lot. Romany Lad heads tho list with 11.9 and on his recent successes should run a good race. Raugitoto is a horn jumper aud if the going suits the chestnut son of Raugipuhi lie may bo handy at the finish. Hutaua aud Hikairoa are a pair of good fencers aud of the above-mentioned quartette I think tho winner will be found in Raugitoto . 1 Hikairoa 2 Romany Lad 3 , SPRING HANDICAP, one mile aud a distance. St. Joe hflads the list with 9.0, with Ellertou 8.11 next. The former ran a good race at Martou and Ellerton put up a good performance at Wellington aud Lyrist has run very consistently of late and a win is overdue. Waitapu and Mataari have botli creditable credentials. Silver Shell, Rosogrove aud The Stake comprise the field, but I think the top weight's hold these safe. Ellertou 1 Waitapu 2 St. Joe 3 RANGITOTO HACK RACE, one mile. i Tins should prove an interesting i race, for there are several leniently treated. Hiro, Comedian, Bolario, Taugoroa and Wairarapa have a look in and the order of finish may bo Comedian 1 Hiro ' 2 Wairarapa 3
