Government was unwilling to veto it but Lord Kitchener insisted.

The sentence of half a year which was passed on tho Calcutta extremist leader, Bepin Chandra, caused prolonged disorder in the streets, a crowd attacking tho police, also hissing the chief presiding magistrate.
