THE GENTLE CYNIC.
The root of all evil seems to thrive in any soil. A girl doesn’t need a fountain pen to write a gushing letter. It is when duty calls that wo are ant to send word we are out. ‘lt takes a fool to fool himself into the belief ho isn’t a fool. Love is the wine of life; marriage is the morning after. When a girl refuses a fellow aud lie dosen’t go to the had it is a bitter blow to her pride. The one thing that is never too big for a man to marry is his good opinion of himself. Optimism is hoping you are goiug to get out of debt in spite of having half a dozen children. When a man likes to bo different from other people, the other people are generally quite satisfied that it should be so. It is a recognised custom for engaged couples to give their brains a rest. Nothing rests a girl’s brain like talking. Many a statesman loves his country with the disinterested affection felt by a foreign nobleman for an American heiress.
