An interesting debate entitled “Should I\ r .Z. Industries ho Pro-; tooted?” .was Hold on Thursday under the auspices of the Debating Society. Messrs 'J. Dooko and J. Matthews led for the affirmative and Messrs T, Purnell and W. Curtis for the negative. The subject caused animated discussion, and on a vote being taken the affirmative were declared victors. It was decided to close the session with a mock banquet, the arrangements to be left in the hands of lady members.
Timber for the new town hall is arriving daily, and everybody* is looking forward to the time when the building will be erected.
The Medical Association was formally wound up on Saturday. It was formed about- two years ago for. the purpose of procuring the serviced of a local doctor. The guarantee is no longer needed.
At the invitation of Mr and Mrs Stmuohon about 60 guests assembled at the Ridge Road residence on Friday- evening. Dancing and games,' interspersed with phonograph select tions, helped to pass away a very em joyable evening. ' • „
