On Sunday while Mr Bausimann, of Morrinsvills, was removing some bottles from a shelf his only son, aged about IS months, who was playing around at the timo removed the cork from a bottle of benzine and drank some of the contents, death resulting a littlo over an hour later.

New Plymouth, September 10. Mr A. A. Pikott, a Now Plymouth borough councillor, was seriously injured this morning at tho Council’s stone-crushing plant at Waiwaikaiho. Some defect occurred in the working aud Mr Pikett was assisting the men to remedy it. While kneeling down attempting to fix a chain on a pulley ho slipped and Ids face struck tho fly wheel. The latter had been broken and strapped together with iron straps. These straps struck his face, rendering him unconscious, in which condition he fell across the chain. Other men immediately rushed to his assistance and stopped the machinery but not until tho fly wheel had made several revolutions, aggravating the already serious Hu juries. James Munro, licensee of the hotel at Lviugstoue, was found dead in bod this morning.
