MONTGOMERY ENTERTAINERS.
The Gisborne Times, referring to the appe riuce of the above, says The jrial display was excellent, the films being first class and the range of subjects comprehensve, whilst a number of vaudeville, items were pleasantly interspersed in. the programme. That the audience was keenly appreciative was self-evident, hearty applause punctuating the performance. Of the pictures in the first half, those depicting the first football match between New South Wales and Ne tv Zealand got a great reception. The spectators were shown what an enormous concourse of people the 52,000, recorded as the attendance at the match, represents, and the enthusiastic interest the contes t evoked. The faces of Hunter and his men as they filed out into the field were clearly recognisable, the preliminary interchange of courtesies between the two teams was depicted, including the Maorilanders in the act of uttering their weird “war” cry, and a kaleidoscopic view of the play was given. It came as a surprise to note that the N.Z. scrum were considerably pushed about by the Cornstalks, but a yell of triumph issued from the house as almost invariably the “All Blacks” twisted the scrum and secured the leather. To judge from the pictures the New South .Wales half-back wan ;v II tele wonder. Glimpses of the meteoric dashes for the line were quite exciting. .
