Addington Markets. For Press Association. Chktstciiukch, September 5. At the Addington live stock market to-day there were moderate entries of stock in nearly all departments and a good attendance. All classes of sheep and cattle sold -well, fat sheep being very firm. Pat pigs wore somewhat easier. Dairy cows were in fair request, and store cattle showed an improved demand. There was a moderate entry of good store sheep. Though the- supply was larger than last week, there was a keen demand and prices advanced about Is per head. Among the sales were : 'Wethers 10s Gd, 20s 4d, 18s Gd, 19s Id, 18s 3d, IGs Gd, owes 12s 9d, hoggets, ewes 20s Gel, 17s lOcl, 15s Sd, wethers ITs Gd, mixed sexes IGs 9d. There were only a few pens of fat hoggets entered and they sold well, as did the now season’s lambs, of which there wore only some half-a-dozen Hoggets made 16s Gd to 20s 9d, and now*season’s lambs 21s to 275. Fat Sheep : The entry of fat sheep was the smallest for a year or more, there being barely enough for butchers’ requirements,Sand prices showed aii advance. The bulk of the yarding consisted of prime wethers with a Few pens of ewes. The range of prices was—Prime wethers 24s to 81s, medium 21s to 28s (id, prime ewes 93s to 27s 9d, others 18s Gd to 20s. Fat Cattle : The eutxyjof fat cattle totalled 224 head, of which there wore 72 from the Isortli island. The yarding was -mostly useful sorts of steers and heifers, and there was n fj-oocl sale, with late rates firmly maintained. Steers brought £G 5s to’£ll ss, heifers £5 10s to £lO, and cows £5 to £ll, equal to 2&s to 80s for extra prime, 24s to 2 1 s Gd for prime, and 20s to 23s for medium beef per lOOlbs. A good entry of veal calves sold at 7s to 555, according to size and quality. Store and Dairy Cattle; Most of the store cattle entered were old cows. There were a few small lots of young stock and those met with a better enquiry at improved rates. Yearlings made 14s to 275, 15 to 18mouths 35s to 48s, 2-yoar-old heifers £3, dry cows 20s’to £3 ss. The dairy cows were a moderate lot and sold at £4 to £B. Pigs ; There was a larger entry of pigs than last week and fats were easier, though small stores, under outside ■ competition, sold well. Baconcrs made 57s to 70s for heavy weights, and 45s to 55s for lighter, equal to 4Hd to 5d nor lb, porkers 82s to 41s. equal to 5d to sj4d per lb, liirn-f! stores 28s to 84s, medium 25s to 27s Cd. small 20s to 94s (id, and we.unTS 12s io J7s (id.
