The Budget showed that the past year ended with a surplus of £297,073. Amongst the prime causes of the surplus are an increase of nearly 000 (?) iu the population, the marriages being tho largest ever recorded, and tho development (of the mining and agricultural interests were also important contributions to tho prosperity.
