OUR VALLEY.
Valley Road, Eimbolton, Sept. 3. Nothing of any importance has occurred since I had the pleasure of writing you last. Tho weather up to a few days ago has been 'very hysterical, but wo who are toiling upon tho laud are hoping for liner days. Everyone is more or less gazing very seriously upon their cows, wondering if tliey will have a. good output of milk. Cows are coming in, and in a few weeks milking will be in full swing. It is very refreshing to go about our valley and see tho buds blooming, everything betokening a happy spring. Mr McDermott- has left ns. He
j had been here twelve years or so. The Valley mourns, and no longer will see onr late familiar friend driving r.nl cheering his geo-gees. This gentleman lias gone to live at Bulls. Vie also lose Mr Stanton, who moves next week to Taranaki. This gentleman lias been an inhabitant of our valley for four years, and has been a successful milker and potato and ouiou grower.
Mr Wilson moves into Mr Stanton’s place, where it is that gentleman’s intention to follow earnestly in the path of his predecessor. Surprise parties were held at Messrs McDermott’s and Stauou’s. and amidst song, mirth and tucker the time passed gently away. Everyone in odi* valley wishes these geutic'meu and families every .luck in their now spheres of iifflaeiico and usefulness.
The inspector representing tho Education Department held an official examination of the pupils of Miss Campion, audifrom all accounts they have all passed satisfactorily.
Wo have also had tiro Inspector of Boilers in our valley, and more are to follow on in proper season. Wo have religions services in our valley every Sunday afternoon. It is very mucii to be regretted that our valley is not visited more by the clergy. A Bible Class is also hold by Miss Mannings.
