The Postmaster-General states there is little chance of a pennypostage bill passing this session. The department’s officials strongly oppose it owing to the prospective loss of revenue involved.
The new agreement between the steamship owners’ federation and the federated seamen’s union has Jbeen signed. It takes effect from September Ist next. No alterations are made to ordinary rates of pay but overtime rates are increased as cabled. Some alterations are made in regard to holidays.
