SHOOTING.

The Canadian Meeting. . Press Association —Copyrigh t. Ottawa, September 1. ~ Canadian rifle mooting Major p-llrdson shooting Captain of the V lish team, won the first stage of the Goveraor-Goneral’s prize and the Association^ 1 - Rifle Clubs v. Volunteers. Saturday last, when combined teams from tho Cheltenham and Kimbolton Kitlo Clubs met tho Manchester Eifles, at Fcilding, was one of the worst shooting days experienced for some time past, fain and a tricky, strong, southerly wind being mainly responsible tor the poor shooting on both sides. Scarcely any of the competitors shot up to form, the averages being for the winners 704, and for the losers 75’ 1, which must ho considered, even under tho adverse conditions, a big drop.' There was a plentiful supply of food on the range, and full justice was done to it by tho competitors. Tho return match will probably bo fired at Cheltenham Eillo Club’s range at an early date. Tho conditions wore 7 shots and one additional sighter at each range. Scores;
