LAND BOARD.
The monthly mooting of tho Wellington Land Board, which commenced ou Thursday, was continued ou Friday. There wore present, Mr J. Strauchon, Commissioner for Grown Lands, in tho chair; Messrs A. Reese, J. M. A’Court, and O. J. Canton.
H. O’Donnell’s application for section 3, blocli 3, Waipakura, was approved. W. O. McCarthy appeared iu reference to residence on section 9, block 10, Apiti. Ho was told his sub-lease was granted on tho understanding that ho would reside ou tho laud.
An application by T. Bushhy to transfer section 10, block 3, Hautapu, to R. Campbell, was not approved.
Tho application of H. .Dill to transfer section 33, block 7, TirirauIcawa, to Miss Lena Hiutz, was approved.
11. Dill's application to transfer section 10, block 0, Tirirankawa, to Mrs O. M. E. O’Oallaghan was approved ; as was his application to transfer sect ion 13, block (5, Tiriraukawa, to H. O’Callaghau. It was decided that a now lease should bo offered to the lessee of section 85, block 7, Maugawhero, ou tho expiration of the present lease at a now rental of 35s per aero. It was agreed to invito tenders for a lease Of gravel reserve, section 33, block 9, Apiti, for 14 years, at an upset rental of £1 per annum. _ Particulars of the sale of Niriaba Village Settlement were submitted by tho Commissioner aud approved. T. Craig’s application for tho right to cut flax ou Campion's Karioi Run was declined.
An applicatiou by- W. Armstrong for a lease of two or throe acres for tho brickmaking site at Ohakuuo Township was iu tho meantime refused until report was received as to applicant’s progress iu brickmaking. The request of B. Ourroou, on behalf of some married men, for a .portion of the Awarna block as an improved farm was declined. The lease of W. Hall for occupa-. tion of section 139, block 3, Maugawboro, was extended to December 31st at the same rate of rental. A similar offer was made in O. Girdwood with regard to tin} rental duo by him.
The'Board approved tho Hanger’s recommendation that time should bo givou to various settlors on the Hautapu and Ohinowairua block until November 1 at.
