In order to enable tho local timber merchants to fulfil the orders received from New Zealand, it has been decided to approach tiio Union Company, urging that better facilities for transport of cargoes bo granted. It was staled that a large quantity was stacked on tho wharves awaiting shipment.

The timber merchants hero have communicated by cable with the Union Steamship Co. in comseotino with delays in shipping Tasmanian timber to Now Zealand. It is stated that some merchants aro already negotiating for outside steamers.
