ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

The Tenui correspondent of the Vi airarn.pa Ago telephones that a man named Peter Hanning, aged 57, employed at Mataikoua station, was found dead in his whare to-day. An inquest will bo held to-morrow. Invercargill, August 30. William Stewart, aged 10, of Gorge Bead, died suddenly to-day. The cause of death is unknown at present, though deceased had had influenza and had boon ailing since Wednesday. Christchurch, August 30.
An old man named William Henry Thorne, 63 years of age, was found drowned |m the Hoathcoto river this afternoon. He had boon missing since yesterday. Gisborne, August 31.
As the Haupiri’s boat Was leaving the shore for the steamer at Hick’s Bay tills morning the boat was struck by a wave and D. Lawrensou, an A. 8., was washed overboard and drowned. ■
