BAND CONTEST.

(Per Press Association.) New Plymouth, August 30,

A well attended public meeting was held in connection with the North Island Bands Association’s contest 'to be held in New Plymouth in February or March next. The Mayor presided. Mr Jas. Clarke was elected secretary an cl the executive appointed. The committee repotted that the result of the canvass for guarantees bad been highly satisfactory; Ata meeting of the executive subsequently it was decided to communicate with the Association asking what probability there was of Australian bands competing. The meeting was very enthusiastic and remembering the. success of previous contests sanguine as to the result.
