While a bomb for this purpose was being prepared it exploded, killing one conspirator and wounding two others. Thirty Republicans have boon arrested. A student named Bettencourt, tho ringleader of tho plot, was making bombs at the moment of tho explosion. Documents compromising many people wore found in his apartments.
