Government agreed to restrict- the operation of tho Act to four years instead of three for tho acquisition of laud and determination of tenancies.

Tho House of Lords, by 'l.ll to TO, read a second time the "Peccas.ed Wife's Bisters' Bill. Seventeen Bishops voted \yith the minority. Tho Archbishop of Canterbury insisted that there was no popular demand for the Bill. Lord James of Hereford and Lord Loreburn supported the measure.
