ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

(Per Press Association.' Eltuaji, August 19. y The 21-year old daughter of George Martin, settler, Mangavvhero Road near Eltbam, died suddenly on Saturday. An inquest was held to-day and evidence was given that the child ate some german sausage that had been lying in a drawer for nearly a fortnight and shortly afterwards vomited. The parents started for town but the child died on the way. The doctor who held a post mortem said he wished samples of the vomit and the sausage to be sent to the Government analyst. The inquest was adjourned. Cheistchuf.ch, August 19. A man named Walter Henry committed suicide at Templeton to-day by shooting himself through the head. The body was taken to the city morgue this afternoon. An inquest will be held tomorrow. Wellington, August 19. A lady cyclist collided with a motor car in Lambton Quay this afternoon. In endeavouring to avoid tho cyclist the car swerved on to the foot jiath smashing a plate glass window of Kirkoaldio and Stains’ shop. The cyclist was much cut about and was removed to the Hospital in an unconscious state. She is believed to be a Mrs Thompson residing in Wellington, but particulars are 'unobtainable till she recovers consciousness. Later. The victim is Lena Thompson, a single woman about twenty years old. At a late hour to-night her condition was unchanged. Wanganui, August 20. The police have been {dragging tho river all morning without success for the body of a young man named Alfred P. Mason, about 20, who _is supposed to have committed suicide on Sunday night, when he was last seen. A Bible, a watch, and a handkerchief, the latter tied to a willow tree near the water’s edge, were discovered this morning, and the police believe it is a case of suicide. Deceased has a brother and widowed mother in Auckland., No reason is assigned except that lie had been slightly indisposed.
