THE SCULLING CHAMPION.

Arriva! at Wanganui. (Per Press Associauoo '■■ Wanoanui, August, 15. William Webb, champion sculler of the world, met with a warm welcome home to-day. Some thousands of people met him at the station, and led by the band escorted him to Cook's Gardens, where speeches were delivered by tho Mayor, the member for the clislriet, and others. The Maoris danced hakas and presented Webb with a framed photograph of himself and an illuminated address, t'ho citizens presented an address, and the local school children gave a barometer to Webb and cutlery to Airs Webb. . The proceedings were most enthusiastic. At night the champion was entertained at a smoko concert.
