FEILDING BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The fortnightly mooting was held last night. CORRESPONDENCE. From secretary of Fcilding Athletic Club, requesting payment of subsidy on cost of work done on oval last rear.—To bo paid. From Chairman of hire Board, requesting vote of £7O to the Board in anticipation of the grant due from the Council during tiro current year, and also enclosing a letter from the Fire Brigade, which body stated it was without funds to purchase necessary uniforms aud hose. —Referred to Finance Committee, with power to act. .... From Jolm Graham, solicitor, applying on behalf of Mr P. A. Mercer for license for billiard room on promises in Fergussou street-. Granted. From 0. A. Mount-fort, stating that ho proposed making a streetthrough his property, from East street to Fergussou street, or Denbigh street, aud asking the couditions'uiuler which it would he taken over .—Referred to Works Commit-toe to decide on what- conditions private streets should bo taken over. REPORTS. The Abattoirs Committee reported that- no reduction should ho made iu tho killing charges, as tho working espouses practically absorbed the receipts. That the manager bo authorised to employ an extra hand at 35s a week, aud that tho Council favourably consider a proposal to provide cool storage at tho abattoirs in readiness for tho coming summer, x.o extra working expense would he incurred. The committee advised that Messrs Gilbord and Sons be offered a yearly lease for boiling down plant, and if not accepted that a live years’ lease bo offered by public tender, as provided by the Act.—Adopted. The Brick Area Committee presented a report with proposals for the modifications of the present-brick area ,—Report held over for production’ of sketch plans of proposed alterations of brick area. The Engineer reported that lie could obtain no definite .statement from Mr Mcßoth as to what he, required iu connection with the sewer through ids property. He advised tho use of limestone to hind gravel used for footpaths. Flo was collecting information that would enable him to deal with ranch of the surface drainage iu Monmouth aud adjacent streets.
It was resolved that a formal request bo made to Mr Mcßoth to find tho casement for sower pipes through his land, the drainage required by him having been carried out.
That tho Park Committee have power to deal with all applications for use of Victoria Park. A tender received for plumbing was referred to tho Engineer, and one for horse feed was not accepted. Tenders for eartapo were referred to a special meeting to ho held on Monday.
