THE TRANSVAAL BUDGET.
Press Association.—Copyright. Capetown, August 13. Mr Watson, Treasurer, delivered the Budget for 1907, showing a deficit of £040,000. It is estimated that in 4908 tho expenditure will reach £8,003,000 and the revenue £7,705,000. Ho announced retrenchments in tho civil service, increase of tax on incomes above £IO,OOO, establishment of an official department to promote South African industries as against imported goods.
