A SERIOUS EXPLOSION.
Per Press Association. Dunkdin, August 12. William Trott, about 30 years of ago, electrical engineer, employed .at Dunedin railway station, was badly injured this morning as the result of an explosion of benzine. Tho accident occurred in the electrician's workshop, a wooden building formerly used as a signal box. A few minutes after Trott entered the building there was an explosion and loud cries, and Trott, blazing from head to foot, ramo rushing down tho station and precipitated himself through a window Fash, where he stuck. Ho was extricated by a party of railway employees and was sent to the hospital. Trott was terribly disfigured, and nearly roasted, but retained consciousness. There was a stove and two tins of benzine in tho room, one of which exploded, covering Trott with liquid flnmo He is a widower with two children and has only been in the colony a year. His condition is critical. The building was not much damaged. Trott had no idea how tho explosion occurred. A departmental enquiry is to ho held
