Labour members in the House of Commons have protested that the presence of tho military at Belfast has prevented peaceful picketing and strengthened the employers. Mr Birrell replied that the troops were there at the request of the civil authorities.
The prospect of tho Belfast employers accepting the Glasgow Carriers’ Association’s offer of GOO men led to a tin cat of a general strike. Five regiments of military aro patrolling the streets.' M. Roddy, national member of the Commons for Birr, has been struck off the Commission of the Peace for Ireland for disregarding Lord Lorcbnru’s warning against publicly recommending driving cattle off farms iu the troubled districts.
