Wool and Skin SaleMessrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their skin sale held at Palmerston North We offered a catalogue comprising 30 hales or •wool and a fair number of skins, hides etc. There was a good attendance of buyers and competition for skins was specially animated. Wool: Our offering consisted chiefly of heavy conditioned crntchings, on which a considerable drop in prices was shown. Good light conditioned crutohings 6>£d, medium crntehing= 4Vd to s>4d, heavy and inferior to' 4>£d, dead 7>od. Skins ; Competition was brisk for all lines offering and good prices were obtained, rme wools 834 d, quarter to half wools to Bd, dead Gd to 7d, damaged 4d to sd, butchers’ half dry and green 6s 6d to 6s 3d to 7s to *s 6d, green lambs 6d. Hides : The prices for hides are still low, but prices received were slightly in advance or anticipations. Medium os 4%d to sd, cows -iyd, yearlings %d, calves 7d. Tallow in tins 38s 3d. Cows tails Is 9d per dozen, horns 1 1 s 3d per 100, hide pieces 3s per cw».
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd., report as follows; HAt Friday’s sale wo offered a representative catalogue of crutonings skins, hides, and a small lot oi tallow. There was a full attendance of buyers, and prices for wool and hides were about on a level of last sales. Skins advanced about per lb Well-saved calfskins were in demand, and realised extreme prices. We quote Wool: Coarse crossbred 8d to BVjd, clean and light crutchings 6d to medium crntchings to 6d, inferior and seedy crntchings 3%d to sJ£d. Sheepskins : Crossbred pelts, sound, 6d to 7Wd, broken and inferior 3d to o%a, halfbred 8d to -pd, half to threequarter woolled crossbred 8d to good lamb skins 7%d to B%d, dead skins 6>£d to 7>£d, green snina from os 8d to 6s 7d, up to 9s fad for exceptionally heavy. Hides : Light ox 4?|d to sd, cow 4%d to sd, damaged hides 8d to 4>£d, calf, sound, to 7%d, calf, damaged, 2d to o%d, bull Slides 3kid to 3%d. Tallow : Mixed quality in shipping condition Sos to 36a per cwt; in tins 23s 9d to 33s fad per cwt.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held their usual fortnightly sale of wool, skins, hides, and tallow on Friday afternoon. Buyers were not as well represented as usual} and bidding suffered m consequence. The firm quote as follows: —Wool; .Our offering was a large one, consisting mostly of crntchings of medium and inferior quality.“ Prices were easier by M d . to bi'd on our last rates. Inferior crossbred 6%d to 7d. medium crutchiugs 5Kd to 6d, inferior crntchings 4Md to dead wool 7d to 7%d. Skins: Some very good lines were offered, a large proportion being green. Prices were firm at last rates. Crossbred, sound-pelted SUd to BUd, medium crossbred 7>|d to Bd, hoggets 73-fd to 7%d, lambs 8d to Bjxd, merino Bd, dead and inferior 6d to 6Wd, butchers’ green 5s 6d to 7s Id, salted 4s 6d, pelts 5d to 6d Hides ; The market is very weak, and is in sympathy with the prices ruling in Australia. Our hides were shown in good condition generally, although owing to the damp weather a few lines were slightly sloppy.
