From Alfred Signal, application for appointment as Comity ranger.— Resolved that application bo not approved. From George Wheeler, expressing satisfaction at the arrangements inade for metalling Eangitano road, and thanking Counci for its promptness iu having the big slip cleared. From In. Sutherland, objecting to being rated for the proposed loan of £IOOO for the Kgaruru road. From T. Cameron, withdrawing his objection to be included' in the rating distret for the Joan of £IOOO for Kgaruru road. From W. 11. Campbell and five others, objecting to their thirds being expended in metalling on the Jlangamahoo road, and that they | i)0 spent upon a filling at a bad bend in the road.—Resolved (CxS. Canton —Georgotti) that work asked for bo carried" out, cost to be, charged to thirds, if thirds not sufficient irilanco to be charged to Riding rate account. From S. D. Lourio, complaining of traffic going through his paddock u?ar Maungalioo road.—Resolved (Chairman —Or. McGregor) that Mr Lourio bo informed that as soon as the slip is dry enough Mr Mair will have fence put in order. From S. B. Wilkes, asking permission (o erect his fence across a corner of reserve opposite section 5, block TIL, Tiriraukawa. —Agreed to during pleasure of Council. From J. O’Keefe, objecting to being rated for the Pukeokahn road"—Received. From B. L. Knight, claiming to have his rates levied ou a reduced valuation.—Left to Clerk to deal with.
From Oscar Rowling, Faso Reserve No. JO, block 111., Tirirankawa —Application to be made to have reserve vested in the Council. Form T. 11. Erodiu and others, asking Council to raise a loan for a new road from end of High street, Marlon, to Junction Railway Station.—Resolved (Crs Fraser— Morrison) that Council cannot see its wav to raise a loan for (be whole amount asked for, as the Council’s borrowing powers arc limited, but if the owners will form and dedicate the road tho Council will bo prepared to consider the raising of a loan for metalling and bridging. From A. Signal, asking permission to put gate on road from Curl’s bridge to Rangitikei River. Resolved that Connell raises no objection to the gate provided it is properly bung and erected during Council’s pleasure only.
From R. Siddel and others, asking Council to raise loan of £ll5OO for metalling the Mataroa-To Kapua road.—Held over until majority of settlers sign application agreeing to the loan. From T. Herbert and H. Downey, applying for a refund on account of carriers’ license, as they paid licenses to Borough of Taihapo, and _ wore only using half a mile of road in tho County.—-Mr Mair and Councillor 'or Riding to confer with Tulhape Council for an amicable settlement. From Vi’. McDowall and T. Monaghan, applying for an Increase of salary..—Agreed to provide that portions of district formerly under Foreman Jenkins bo added to their districts to be arranged by Mr Man*. From Adam Bros., asking Council to take over their contract for lowering Greatford cutting. —Council agreed to take over contract. From Alex. Blade, applying for formation and cnlvertiug IT chains at north end of Poppe’s road, and offering to contribute half cost. — Work agreed to up to cost of £3, to come out of Riding account. Mr H. Cameron waited on Council and asked that Council will permit Mr Thoms to report on cost of road to connect Tnrakma Valley _ road through Bowen’s and Lonrie’s. — Council granted the request.
A largely signed petition was received from ratepayers in Mar.gawoka. asking Council to take steps to raise a loan of £-1000 for a water nud drainage scheme. —ft was resolved '(Crs Georgetti—Lethbridge) that the application bo placed on the list of loans to bo applied for in turn.
A petition was received from ratepayers at Utiku, asking that a footpath bo formed from fjStockwell’s boarding house to the school.—Resolved (Chairman —Cr. Georgctti) that a footpath ho made and gravelled as suggested up to cost of £SO, to be charged to general accountland two-thirds to Awarna Riding account.
Mr Evan McGregor waited on Conucii in connection with ini proving sharp elbow on Tnrakina Valley road. Resolved (Chairman —Cr. McGregor) that Mr Mair with Mr Thoms report on this matter at next meeting.
Mr Mair was instructed to report ou Waugaclin river protective, work's. Or. Gc.orgotti brought up the matter of fencing, etc., at Mangaweka eaiiotery,—Council decided it could not give any assistance in the mn i ter.
It was resolved (Crs. Lethbridge— A. G. Simpson) that Council is willing to undertake tlie work of formation on Heaton Park at the cost price, money to bo paid by the Trustees, and that tire Council agrees to boar cost of fencing one side of the deviation in Preston.
That (Grs. A. G. Simpson—Fraser) a deputation consisting of the Chairman, Crs. McGregor and Lethbridge wait upon Wanganui County Council m connection with a road through Mr A. Sutherland's property from iVangaclut river to the Iso. 2 Lino. That (Crs. Canton —McGregor) Engineer make outside inquiries as to burning papa, on tho roads. That (Crs Duncan —Morrison) a special rating area, as shown on the plan submitted for a loan of £-500 for metalling tho Ongo road be defined, and notices sent to the ratepayers This will include 700 acres of Mr Bruce’s property
Mr Mair reported roads to be in T f*y good order in ’the northern 'Mings. During the mouth Mr Ross’ tender was accepted for erection of a bridge over the Kabauraupouga creek diversion, and the work has been commenced. Resolved that Council agrees to expend £lO, provided Mr Neshot finds the balance required for road to fiis property at north of Mr Arkwright’s property. That the recommendation to improve protective works ou Lower Raugitikoi be given effect to. The tender of William Moore, contract 250, for Wharoroa road, was accepted. The tenders for contract 251 (roadmen’s cottages) wore referred to Mr Mair.
Accounts amounting to £1238 10s 8;1 were passed for payment. The debit balance after uavmcuts would be £OOJ9 3s 4d.
